for me, toys didnt get good until sometime in early 2000's when "super-poseable" stopped becoming a sales gimmick and then into a standard. it was then around 2010 we really started getting our "you knoes" in. sadly it was also when Toy Fare magazine ended production, but its existence will live on in infamy.
anyway, buying stuff from the old days is no more unjust than buying whatever Megalopolis is making. Toys are a non-essential and shouldnt get in the way of anything like rent/mortgage, bills, car, groceries, etc. try to find a great deal but also learn to budget. soon, you'll find yourself playing with your toys, and either develop a satisfactory sense of joy or remorse.
