http://cmorrismodels.com/bergepanther/bergepanther1.jpg) but instead of "erected" the bars in "closed" position in their hinges or something like that that hints the previous use and being part of a heavier lifting structure that was removed.
One thing to consider is that the bergetiger I, probably due the size and weight, had the crane set up in the turret (pic related) so I would opt for an hybrid setup that seems to had continued to the turret but was removed leaving some attaching options and mechanisms on the hull. That way the scratch work is simpler but still effective. (I hope you get what I try to say as without a drawing or something is a bit hard to describe)
