Z Broly’s origin is a lot more dramatic with King Vegeta having a baby murdered for having a high PL and then having the father killed for objecting to it. Helps that it’s a lot more concise and doesn’t go on forever like Super’s origin did, which also retcons Bardock into a rehash of Jor-El and the Superman story.

He struggles against every form up to God Vegeta and almost loses, then powers up and then almost loses to God Goku before losing to Blue Goku, then he powers up again and is par with Blue Goku and Blue Vegeta before they arbitrarily decide they need to fuse without going to Blue Kaioken or Blue Evolution because there's less than 10 minutes of the movie left. Then Gogeta completely kicks Broly’s ass and is about to kill him before Green Bulma wishes him out of the fight.
Sure, Broly CAN get stronger, but given he was already losing before they even hit the limits of Blue, the value is kinda lost. Z Broly doesn’t have this problem because he was contending with a lot lower power gaps and consistently dominated the fights he was in (he got completely flanderized in Second Coming though).
Super Broly’s a fine movie, and Frieza’s a lot of fun. But anyone acting like Super Hero’s some huge downgrade because it made Gohan Blanco canon is wearing some serious rose-tinted glasses.
