I expected this given the name of the line, but I'm nevertheless glad. Having the core toy's thighs as shoulders in the super mode or whatever might not be a good thing, though, even if it is EVOLVED.

The whole gimmick of the leader class figures is to show characters upgrading to a Prime once they get the matrix. Optimus was Orion Pax before he got the matrix just like how Rodimus Prime was Hot Rod before he got the matrix. Or how Primal didn't get his Optimal Optimus body until he got G1 Optimus' matrix. There's no fanfic here, it's just what the point of the line is.
