It made them feel like an actual American team with people from divergent backgrounds and experiences coming together to do good in the world. Sure, there was a lot of racists stereotypes used, but that was a product of it's time, and the characters each had core personalities that shined through despite the storytelling shortcuts taken.

That said, I do want to thank him. All his stupid arguments forced me to go back and look at all the pics I took during the Modern Era's hayday and realize all the fun I had with these figures. I think I'll try and bust some of them out of storage and get new pics of em. Lord knows I certainly need to update my group pics for both Joes and Cobra.
