It was mainly the stock footage sequences which looked nice, the main show had passable animation, just some fucked up proportions here and there

Honestly? Energon. In some parts, Munetaka Abe would draw the Transformers by hand, and it looked really good.
I remember the human animation being better than your average TF show, too
