>>8215589As a disclaimer; I build and collect Gundams that I like, I expend effort to get p-Bandai products, I have a large collection of Pokemon cards and I've played MtG for 15 years, I also collect gatcha toys. But I still feel like you'd have to be a retard to collect Funko
The problem I have with Funko is it's a ground up blanket product. They don't have artistic value like limited/expensive designer toys, but they're priced like they are. Their target market is sad and nostalgic virgin men who collect for the sake of collecting, who will never stop buying products as a proxy for unfulfilled lives. Im not saying that collecting in general isn't driven/marketed by a similar mentality, but with Funko it's blatant to the point of being malicious. They crank out every possible variation of their shitty chib template year after year with the usual forced scarcity tactics to milk their whales extra hard.
