The lady at the store took me to the black people hair product section, and said that while it was meant to help black peoples with bad hair, due to not having alcohol it's one of the best quality hair gels she knew of. I've had dolls with it on for years, and have had no flaking issues. The hair will stay hard as hell forever. I recently wanted to fix the hair style of a Toy Story 2 Bo Peep doll who had the stuff on for two years, and it did wash out so I don't believe it will damage the hair in the long run
