I guess it's for the best.
I don't have a smart phone or an iPad so I would have faced the same Problem as I did with that sphero bb8 which is that you need to have a smart phone in order to actually play with it since it doesn't include it's own remote control.
Belle has some basic "Try Me" options she can do without a smart phone, but if I the dress looks cheap, and the face looks like crap (which most of the new Hasbro princess face molds do) I can't bring myself to pay $100 it.
