It's actually a strange thing that Halo 3 wasn't just picking up directly after Halo 2 while Chief was on-board that ship. I'm not complaining, it's just surprising how much of Halo 2 didn't make it into Halo 3 and they made a lot of new ideas just for 3 instead.
As for 'Spartan Collection' figures vs 'World of Halo' figures, examine them closely, especially if you can do so in a store. I had the chance to buy the bigger version of Chief the other day, but I actually prefer the more orange visor, darker green, more noticeable black border around the visor and more weathering detail of the smaller Chief. Still, nothing wrong with skipping a purchase and saving money.
