One of the things, granted, that made Bionicle work was that at least 1 out of every 5 committed projects would end up carrying the year for a given line (like MNOGG), and as a result the ascetic of getting out carried into a new world was achieved.
What it needs is an understanding of the timing with public sentiment. Another factor is whether we have a big drive for wanting to take the ascetic and use it for escapism like with the first bionicle line. The second bionicle line flopped as they believed that just the name and some vague reference to advertising would work.
