But their mechs had big guns on them to deal with bad guys like the Blacktron or Spyrius, or evil aliens like the UFO or Insectoids (I thought those ones were bad guys). They had to defend the coveted Triodium Ore (the neon orange boulders) from bandits and would-be exploiters, because it was the highest yield unrefined power source in the galaxy.
