theories include:
-the dyes in the colors make the pieces more brittle, and thus would crack after extended use
---either only-grey pieces are stable
---Lego is lazy and doesn't care to test enough other colors
---if they did have some-okay, some-not, they would be forced to admit brittle colors, which they don't want to do, as it "shows they are not perfect like the reputation says"
-the other theory is about warehouse sorting complications, and they didn't feel like they needed extra spots on the wall for another rainbow of pieces in multiple colors. it's just simpler if those pieces are grey and that's the end of it.
-the joints are hidden/unimportant parts of the model, and it doesn't matter what color they are, according to design philosophy
maybe there's some other theories, but that's what I remember
