First thing for getting good poses is understanding the characters you're posing and putting them in a pose that they would conceivably do on their own. Obviously if you're just having fun and not trying to mimic pose form the source material then this isn't that big of a deal but it helps when it comes to putting together a display of character from the same source.
Next lines of movement, how the body moves and flows through the actions you're trying to portray with your poses. Reference images are a great way to learn how bodies move and do certain actions.
