As for fragile, maybe for people who don't follow instructions or have bad luck. Most of mine are 10+ years old and I haven't had any problems. I use the Apex 2-tier risers sized for detolfs and get enough light from floor lamps that I don't need strips, but some people can't spare that kind of space.
