The anti-radiation lining on the turret of late Cold-War Soviet tanks is not solid lead, it's a composite of borated polyethylene and polyisobutylene (indeed impregnated with lead though) fabric.
Guess Soviets really liked using synthetic textile composites on their tanks, see textolite armor.
