Ghostbusters worked because it was A) funny, which can't really be replicated in toy form, and B) had phenomenal and memorable art/ghost design.
A Ghostbusters line needs ghosts and wacky technology stuff. Classic ones from the movies, original ones, whatever. Let the designers go crazy and give people a reason to actually buy the line beyond Beige Overall Standing Around #3. It's not like they didn't have the template already from the original toylines.
