I put them away when I got into high school, only breaking them out when cousins or family friends with young kids paid a visit.

The only time I build anything these days is if I buy a set, and it's almost always by the book (and even that has slowed down). I own more Lego than I ever dreamed when I was a kid, but I can't bring myself to build anything with them. I get tired just thinking about opening and closing all those containers and bags to dig for pieces. While my collection is nowhere as huge as those I've seen on Youtube, I feel like I had more freedom when I had a limited palette to work with in a single case.
Can a collection ever get too big? Has anybody found a happy medium somewhere in between the two extremes?
