No idea. I collected dbz figures in my 20s when it was sbc, then jaxx and Irwin figures. Had a large collection over many years, eventually sold it and gave what didn't sell to my kids.
Fast forward years later I found Neca xenos at TRU and went in whole hog. Found my way to /toy/ and lurked for years. When covid hit I started working from home and started with cheaper imports and 2 years later I have a sizable collection from various lines.
Maybe it stems from being a poor kid who never really got much that wasn't from second hand, a yard sale, or thrift store. Never getting anything I wanted and always watching friends and other kids have nice things. Now I do pretty decent and can afford nice things that I want. Probably go a bit over board but not to where I don't have money saved or can't pay my bills. Still been thinking about dialing it back. To bad there are so many cool toys I want.
