Also a fair chunk of the Marvel characters aren't actually in the MCU yet. If anything I would say Marvel vs Capcom has been more influential in the selection so far.
Aside from that, Taskmaster is a cool fighter guy they can pack with tons of weapons and syncs with Deadpool, so a perfect fit for AY regardless of which version they model him after.
If they were willing to go back and grab fucking Arkham Knight of all things, I see no reason why Taskmaster would be off the table.
