As I understand it, the production team in the UK cleaned the country out of a certain make of airsoft gun to make the gas blowback for all the FO blasters, the rest of the gun although it looks superficially similar to the modified Sterling submachine guns used in the original trilogy, is mostly cast from 3D printings of an original design.
