>>9988030Unpopular opinion, probably. There’s something visually disturbing in the proportions of these dolls.
General long-winded MH observation: I think all the divided factions in the adult doll and toy hobby devolve into a series of backwater niches that run out of gas when a line drops or changes and that kind of sucks. I’m a doll customizer so I drift around but it was kind of disheartening to see the MH fandom tank and mostly dry up after G-1 was dc’d, then fizzle again when G-2 dolls were badly done. People expressed regret and their own still existing attachment to these characters, dolls and stories. By contrast, Blythe people have kept on going since their doll renaissance with NeoBlythe, even with very few expensive and LE official releases per year, in part because that hobby embraces customizers, clothing designers, photographers, stock collectors, old, new, etc. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that if each person strongly embraces the value that the MH has to them overall, this fandom could weather changes too, survive and not wax and wane completely at the whim of the Mattel releases. There are enough dolls out in the wild and soon to be on the market to do that already, and with this reboot, there’s a chance to future-proof it. I’m going to be buying copious amounts of what I like and just lightly passing over what I don’t - but overall, I’m invested in the line getting another chance to succeed. I think it’s the best doll line to have come out in quite a while.
