If you can watch shit like the old TMNT, G.I. Joe, etc you need to check it out but if you can't into that kind of madcap 80's shit just watch the 1986 movie so you at least get a bigger budget better animated taste of G1 that's a pretty fun adventure by itself and doesn't require much context outside of understanding what Transformers are.
>Beast WarsEarly CGI meaning it looks ugly, and it starts off a little slow, but it's a short series and once the ball gets rolling you won't regret having stuck with it. Great characters, pretty character driven show since the cast was limited to small teams unlike the constantly rotating G1 cast. It balances a more serious tone with a somewhat self aware tongue in cheek humor, some people who need everything to be grimdark get triggered by the humor.
>AnimatedA pretty atypical Transformers show but stands strong in it's own way, definitely one of the better series. It has a slightly more "super hero" take on the Transformers and a much more "toony" art style, it's good but if cartoony things like say things like Teen Titans trigger you I guess you might dislike it.
>TF PrimeKind of a more dark/dramatic tone though not grimdark, still has humor and charm. It's pretty good, it was better watching it as it aired because it is flawed and has some plots that go nowhere which is only more noticeable watching it all at once but I still think it's a decent show, not perfect but decent and introduced some cool new characters. Also it's easily the best LOOKING TF series to date, had great animation and was pretty expensive.
