The simple fact is: airbrush (properly used, of course) produces uniform paint coat that you can make as thin as you need. Hand painted coat has to be layered therefore it will never be as thin or as uniform. It is particularly evident with metallics which are not easy to airbrush either but at least the effort pays off.
