As a person from the doll world I think a lot of the reason i like CGs is they have cute fashion doll-ish less-textured faces and rooted hair but their bodies, fashions, modular parts and arsenals are all clearly figure style and a lot of fun to play with. Since Takara is mostly a doll company it makes sense they had faces like that.
Do you guys know any lines today similar to Cy Girls?

Ball jointed dolls are gigantic and definitely not related to 1/6 (also very expensive and made of totally different plastic than either figs or fashion dolls). There's another doll general where most of what is discussed is playscale or 1/6 dolls.
