>>10306360It all comes down to phases of innovation vs. optimization, it's not a unique problem to this hobby. Once an optimal way of doing a thing is found people are disinclined from deviating from it, innovation turns to refining the "optimal". What optimal means will change depending on who is doing the work. For a toy company it will mean high profit margin, for a competitive hobby shooter it will mean high performance. Just a about the only way you are going to see something new and different is in the (shrinking) modding scene or in really niche applications.
