It doesn't get as much attention and arguably the sculpts aren't as charming, but I'm also really fond of the AB Toys figures from france that Irwin shuffled into their US line. AB made a lot of OVA/movie characters SBC didn't touch as well as alternate appearances and side characters. The sculpts are much softer than SBC, but in some ways thats a good thing.
The issue with a lot of these older anime figures is that they sculpted the line art so dep in the figure. tampograph printing really improved anime figures considerably. Still, I find these older , pre-2000 figures more charming than latter, more modern figures before SHF. Though I do like the Irwin labs stuff. The jakk's emphasis on paint is comparatively dated.
