In fact, the cost as kids toys is so important that they CUT the cost for toys INSTEAD of raising them to continue using better QC/paint/articulation that they know adult collectors want.
To companies like Hasbro, they will and DO sacrifice the collector base, because the kids market is who they're aiming for.
The raise in prices in kids toys is solely because almost all those toy makers are publically traded and need to give higher discounts to retailers.
Again, the prices in actual collector toys haven't raised in price because it's a whole other market place, in spite of the manufacturing process being almost identical to childrens toys even in costs... even though collector companies pay more for higher QC and more paint apps.
So there you go, 200% increase in price for collector toys meant for adults. 400% increase in children's toys sold primarily to kids. Even toys that have never had collectors as their secondary audience have increased in price.
