>>7209991I'm 30 and I grew up with the G1 comic and late G1 / early G2 toys in Europe. The series released afterwards were mediocre at best, shounen tier bullshit at worst. Animated had a human side character (Sari) who I was more interested in than the rest of the show. Bayformers was an insult to every related industry, to common sense, and to human decency.
I like that Masterpiece is a line specifically to make the highest quality G1-like toys. I don't mind if they go the extra mile to make them show accurate, especially considering what a horrible joke the first Megatron MP was. There are already a ton of toylines for not-g1 designs, MP can stay as the one intended for the people who grew up with G1 and can afford premium figures of their childhood heroes.
My biggest problem with the MP line is that they whored it out and made the figures simpler, less articulate, all plastic. The original MP toys had articulation on every finger, can the new ones even open their palms? The figures are also becoming smaller and smaller, and I don't mean because they are now doing Bumblebee. They re-scaled the entire line to be smaller. If they still were real "masterpiece" figures, then the Grimlock figure would have been so big and heavy that shipping would've cost almost as much as the figure itself.
