The reason they can't aim the melta forward is because of the cables attached to the melta, not the weight of the weapon. Due to the way the cables attach straight down from the melta, the cables need to bend nearly 90 degrees to level the weapon. But, the cables are too thick to bend that far. As a result, the cables do not want to bend enough to level the weapon (near the point they attach to the gun) and it basically forces the melta to point downwards as the cables want to straighten themselves out.

>>10613597 said, the multi-melta marine is the only one who can aim his weapon properly because the cables don't need to bend as much to level the gun, thanks in-part to the way the cables attach at an angle to the multi-melta.
So I would recommend the multi-melta marine over either of the regular melta marines, but the other two at least look neat and only cost about $25 each.
