Ten years of tedious, boring, edgy Snyder shit in theaters, hideous Jim Lee costume redesigns with comics spamming the reboot button every couple months starting with New52, and nothing iconic like BTAS or Justice League for kids is what killed DC.
No one except for a few thousand middle aged to geriatric nerds are buying these things, that's why all the recent waves have been aimed at people who grew up in the 90's. There hasn't been anything popular or good enough to draw in fresh blood so of course the market is only going to keep shrinking.
Todd made the most out of what he could with the license while he had it. Kind of crazy that DC is going to shuffle down to the irrelevant boomer end of the toy aisle next to GI Joe, Power Rangers, and Masters of the Universe.
The one to keep an eye on is Spin Master's Total Justice line. That's going to be the new premium series for collectors.
