>>10308187Really if you're an oldfag almost none of these new figures are truly bad compared to what we had for the longest time, in less than 20 years we went from robot Masters being the best Starscream we had to $60 MP Starscreams. So I think those of us with a little patience and money are ok with buying a sort of ok updates that aren't as good as others. We've become accustomed to upgrading every few years.
As far as the completionist mentality, it's simply because there's something about how having all these characters assembled looks like that feels special. I may not like Huffer as much as Jazz, but it feels right having him on the shelf. Seeing little dioramas of non-TF stuff like war scenes or trains made something click in my head why it feels satisfying; you see how a diorama has all these little aspects to it to make it seem complete; a regiment will have every type of troop down to the drummer boy makes it feel right; a train station with every major aspect makes it feel real.
It's not a mentality I expect most people to get, and that's ok
