>>7287607I personally have no regrets. Not being able to have dolls like Barbie, Belle, Ariel or Jasmine growing up was extremely painful. The fact that I grew up during the Disney renaissance made it even worse since movies like the little Mermaid were new, and there was a lot of hype around them on tv.
Back than there was no such thing as the Disney Princess doll Franchise. You either got a Belle doll while Beauty & the Beast was in theaters or you could kiss it goodbye. There was also no such thing as ebay, and few people owned computers so you couldn't even buy it off of a scalper online. As soon as the movie was released to theaters, and home video all merch from that movie would disappear from all toy shelves to make room for dolls from the next new Disney movie. I had to watch as each new Disney princess doll was released for the very first time ever, and slowly leave toy shelves while knowing I would never be able to have one. It wasn't until 1997 that I was able to buy my first Ariel doll with my own money. Sad part was that it wasn't even the one I wanted. I wanted the Tyco toys version from my childhood not the new fancy Mattel re-release version. Today I currently have loads of Ariel doll not, but it's still not enough. In my head I guess I'm still chasing that first Ariel doll I was never able to have as a kid, and no matter how many I buy I'll never quite reach her.
