>BATTLE BUGZIt's the post-apocalypse, the only thing to have survived is insects....
That have hyper evolved into humanoid insects thanks to the powers of radiation! Good bug tribe live and protect a former human library, which is the last bastion of knowledge from the "ancients." (AKA humans.) Bad bug tribe wants that knowledge to build weapons of war to take over the world.
>Good bugs:Leader: Bee
Lancer: Grasshopper
Big Guy: Hercules Beetle
The Chick: Butterfly
The Kid: Ant
Magic Mentor: Firefly
>Bad BugsOverlord: Praying Mantis
Sniveling Toady: Termite
Dumb Brute: Stink Bug
Sexy Witch: Black Widow Spider
Creepy Mad Scientist: Mosquito
Nameless Cannon Fodder Troops: Locusts
The main gimmick is that the bugs have a squishy abdomen that is a central point of weakness across all Battle Bugs. Squish that abdomen and they're defeated. The abdomens on the figure would have a rubbery, squishy piece of plastic on their rump.
First 2 waves is just the basic characters. After that, we get into themed waves, like Nite-Strike and Aqua-Attak. Each wave introduces a new figure or two central to the theme's plot. In between waves is a half wave of repaints & retools of older figures.
Of course, there would be a syndicated half-hour TV badly animated cartoon show for marketing.
That's all got from the top of my head. The bug theme has been done already with Sectaurs & Bugmen of Insectica But kids of any era love bugs, so the toyline would be attractive to kids today who have never even heard of thoseold 80's lines.
