>>6762043>>6762150>>6762172The factor that they are willing to make them but at a cost Neca doesn't want to pay for it. Another major factor you are both missing is usually the licenses are under someone else and they don't want to share like Nickelodeon's TMNT and other IPs. Hell last I check the original Blade Runner's merc agreement gives full rights to WB which is why you don't see shit of BR because WB would totally let Neca do it, for something like 35% profits from it(Also Sony might take issue with WB making money off them).
>>6762165I'm always amazed they need it to be lazy on the IP owners side and not the company wanting to use it. Hasbro doesn't give a fuck who uses their IPs as long as you pay the royalties for it.
>>6767236This has been thanks to the perfection of greed. Nick did a lot of their own merc creation for Spongebob at it's prime which then lead to CN wanting it to work like that. The reason they kill Young Justice was the demographic they got (college age and teen girls) don't buy merc like the target they were aiming for (young boys) so they scrap it because they wanted major profits all around. However as time has moved on traditional toys and merc don't sell all that well and it's hard to turn profits from cheap stuff like pop licensing (unless you are Disney level demand) or the harder smart devices/RC drone toys.
>>6767494They pay the royalty cost. Pops are so inexpensive they can afford whatever is ask usually but they still try to pace it out because for every cheap company like Sony and Funimation there are ones that take a good chunk like Nickelodeon and Hasbro
