>>8736828I feel like we're going to have pandering so long as we have capitalism and old franchises. We church out all these animators and writers that really wish they were making something else. Transformers, thundercats, etc, is just a job for these people. Ultimately they don't respect the property or the fans. They put in a resume, they interview, they get the job, and they work on something they don't like to pay for their rent and food.
When they get the chance, they force it to be something else. Which pisses off the old fans.
Think about Steven Universe. AS BAD AS SOME PEOPLE THINK IT IS, how much worse would have been been had it been an existing property? What would the fallout have been had they been given sailor moon or rainbow brite? gay combining muffin people?
But thats what happened to the JEM comic and the she rah cartoon. The team didn't care about those properties and just turned it into what they wanted, pandering to like minded people.
This is going to continue to happen so long as colleges pump out animators and they are forced to work on shows they don't like to pay their bills.
Obviously the solution is to hunt down people that love the brands...but people lie at interviews to get jobs and pay bills...soooo I don't know.
on topic, I hope we get a purple and green bm repaint of ba
