>>10728166>I'm honestly fine about species autism thoughIt's not so much autism over him not looking specifically like a Fire Ant (the old one actually misses the mark a bit, too, but is much, much closer), but more about him not looking like ANY KNOWN SPECIES OF ANT ON THE PLANET. His alt mode is explicitly supposed to be an ant, yet his new toy fumbled ALL of the defining features of an ant. This is like taking a Nubian Lion, but fucking up all of its defining details to the point where you can't be certain the thing is even a feline, let alone a specific breed of lion.
Still, the bigger issue here is that the new toy doesn't just not look like an ant, but that it specifically doesn't look like Inferno himself. How can you still call it 'Inferno' if it doesn't actually resemble the character it's meant to depict? I admit that I never had the original toy growing up - I only knew him from the show. My first toy of him was the Legacy one, which I got at release, and I ended up getting the OG vintage one for the first time off of eBay a few months later; The old toy is dated and has a poor head sculpt, but it definitely has a much closer resemblance to the show in BOTH modes than the new one does, even if it's a bit stocky (as were all of the 90s toys).
