A lot of overstock, clearanced, and defective stuff goes to stores like the one in pic related, which are called salvage stores. These types of stores buy the unwanted merch in bulk from the big chain stores for pennies on the dollar. They in turn pass the saving to the customer by offering the item at 50%~75% off the original cost. Most of the time that's a real good deal considering that if the toy isn't already complete, it's usually just has a missing accessory or the box is beat. Naturally, it's fun to go to these types of stores because you never know what kind of cool item you're going to run into.
