I'm not really sure what could cause that since most of the pressure of getting the legs tabbed onto the back panel would probably just go to flexing the main body of the leg or moving the hip ball joints. I suppose pulling the thighs out to get him in robot mode might crack them as well, since that'll put force on the underside of the knee hinge.
Oddly enough Ghost Starscream doesn't have cracks and I've played with him by far the most out of any IF Seeker (in fact none of them have cracks or stress marks). If any of them had brittle plastic it would sure as fuck be the transparent one.
It still seems fairly solid, though. The crack probably relieved stress on the plastic and isn't a sign of further breakage. Also I should mention my Starscream doesn't have the misasembly issue so that might not be a cause of it.
