Anyway, I've made major headway on this and now not only does it look a lot better, it's now even shorter. Seriously, this thing's gonna be sub-3" by the time I'm done. Miniaturization is fun! Using Kanna's friend as a basic proportion reference as, simply put, she had a decent ref available and was close to the shape I wanted. I haven't watched Dragon Maid, maybe I should.
