Diecast is a relic of a bygone era that needs to die and stay die. It has too many drawbacks for action figures versus just using colored plastics. Why is it that cars, electronics, and clothes are expected to be lighter, but toys need "heft" to be any good? To satiate the nostalgia of 80's boomers who will take it straight from box to open wall-mounted book shelf? Diecast for "Balance" or "Structural Integrity" is just an excuse for lazy design and cheaping out on QC. If this guy can balance his massive upper body on a single ball-jointed toe unassisted like 6 years ago, there's no reason 3p figures can't manage the same now, especially with their prices inflating faster than fucking hasbro's.

Which they also can't do right since they've added diecast to the upper bodies of several figures already, which ultimately defeats the purpose of shifting the center of gravity. I still remember the first time I picked up sovereign and jesus fuck did he really need to be as heavy as a newborn? I really need to find some kind of document or podcast discussing the costs of plastics vs metals in toys, because I don't believe diecast adds some kind of value to a figure, especially when other companies can make figs that balance like this on ball joints.

How old are we talking? My first foray was with Aero Alpha and I'd bet he somehow has tighter tolerances that when I bought him, and the rest of the moldmates are fantastically built as well. I also have a Commodus, and he's fine too.

I'm gonna call bullshit on that. MMC themselves have managed to make insanely top heavy figures with tiny feet that can absolutely hold themselves up unassisted. Especially since they also made the pink Azalea's feet bigger after the black one came out, so they knew the diecast itself didn't correct the issue. Perhaps the weight distribution had to be like that to maintain the aesthetic, but I still firmly believe that diecast for balance is a cop out for taking engineering and QC shortcuts.

Just include a stand if its balance is an issue.At least then I can give them more dynamic posing instead of stock straight. Making a figure heavier for the sake of heft is only going to be trouble for tolerance and tightness in the future. Especially with metal on metal joints.
