Putting together Matau Hordika made me realize why people hate the inika build so much. It's not just the repetition, though it and the cracked joints certainly helped. The inika build just didn't feel like technic. Plus it's architecture. Parts clicked on one axis. Older sets were comprised of weird pieces that you could hary tell what they were until you put the toy together. And some bits you had to add from this direction while others you had to insert from that direction.
At least with Glatorian they tried to address the sameness a bit. And say what you will about inikabuild, but Gresh is beautiful. The palette, the marbled pieces that tied the colours together, the plant look, and the posture. He even manages to rock the long arms.
