I was one of, if not the first, anons to have and post pics of a ML figure on this board. I picked up my Test Shots (Owain and Clavian) because at the time it was still going to be another 4-6 months before the figures actually shipped out and I had a mighty need. I also had an idea for a custom I wanted to try and felt that the solid grey of the test shots would work better with mixing then the fully painted figures (which it kinda did). To this day, this guy is probably my favorite figure in my entire collection, even though he's nothing more then a solid grey lump with stolen, ill fitting accessories.
This time around I'll probably pass on the Test Shots. With the first ones, there was a certain allure to being able to discover just how great these figures would be months before they actually came out but with the wave 2 stuff, I'm pretty much content with waiting the two months to get my AoD order. I know they'll be quality figures and I know they'll be fun to mess with, I don't feel as much of a desire to spend more money on these guys.
I'm also in a tighter financial situation at the moment (summer was expensive) so there's less room in my budget for a splurge like this. Especially when there are so many other figures, both in the ML line and other toy series, coming out I would like to get my hands on.
To any and all who bite the bullet on these Test Shots, more power to you. They may be boring and grey, but they have a charm all their own. To those who don't see it being worth it, you're not wrong, but in this hobby that could be said of almost anything. Either way, it won't be long now until the wave officially hits and this thread gets overrun with new pics, new fans, new awesome customs and the same old trolls who just won't go away. It should be fun times!
