If we can't get real vac-metalized chrome, I sorta think the next best thing might be the weird metallic plastic Hasbro has been using in the last few years. It's really mystifying how they managed to find a mix that pretty much looks like a metallic gloss paintjob all by itself. And obviously it's super durable since there is no chrome layer to flake or paint to chip. I haven't really seen anyone do this besides Hasbro though, so it might be some proprietary mix or something that only they know how to do.
