>>10747964That's actually a retcon that came later. I think in Loeb and Sale's Daredevil Yellow, though it may have appeared sooner. In his first appearance Matt made the suit out of a bunch of his old clothes and scrap fabric, and through the power of comic book bullshit he could tell the color of each piece of fabric from the feel. The garish appearance is because early Daredevil was envisioned as being more of a swashbuckling, smart-aleck circus performer (hence the singlet) as opposed to the kinda brooding ninja he'd morph into over the years.
