>>7664230If water is your goal, it might be worth getting creative and trying your hand at hand-painting the underside of the base for a sort of stylized ocean look like pic related. Start with the crests of the waves in light, opaque acrylics, let those dry, build the waves up with slightly darker blues, let those dry, and so on. You can even play around with different types of paints and thin-ness for unique effects, since the fact that you're painting the underside of the plate means you don't need to worry about how less-thinned paint will look (or even turn the textures of thicker acrylics into part of the wave effect).
Either way, go to the dollar store and find a bunch of tupperware lids or similar cheap flat bits of clear plastic to practice on before painting an actual base. That way, you can play around with the scrap to figure out what sort of effect you want and how to make it happen before committing to the real deal.
