When I was growing up I got an allowance of $1 a week for every year old I was. By 10, saving for a month or so would let me go on a mini-shopping spree at Toys R Us/KB Toys since toys were mostly $5-10 even into the late 90s/early 2000s. Nowadays, a kid would need to save over a month just to get 2 6" toys. There's still some cheaper options, but they seem few and far between.
