Turns out I love it so am going balls deep on singles while they're basically 3 for the price of 2.
The bins scale reasonably with 6" figures, although it's pushing it with Marvel Legends who are more 6.5". I'll be using them and dumpsters as props for my Fortnite toys.
I checked an old archived thread and it appears there's a higher chance of getting duplicates in the 2 packs which have set combos of characters inside:
