McFarlane has been using the success of FNAF, CoD, Fortnite, and Destiny lines to fund his purchase of the DC license.
There's no overreach there, given McFarlane is actually a mass market medium sized toy company, unlike collector companies like DC Collectibles, Good Smile, Kaiyodo, NECA, etc etc etc.
A mass market toy company will always be investing in various properties to see what shit will stick, so it's natural for McFarlane to try and get the DC license when it got put up for sale.
I wouldn't doubt it if McFarlane tried to get the main action figure license and was outbid by Spinmasters.
