>>6913416Didn't forget about you senpai, it's the la one I had around. Started the wood but I painted the base color with a really orange looking brown and looks kinda weird but ref pics look pretty orange, this weekend I'll work on it and post pics.
The first attempt I'm doing is with a fine brush painting the veins with light and dark brown and then if I like it I'll cover it with a medium brown glaze. This shit is pretty basic and works well on 1/35 and lower but in 1/12 I'm not so sure.
Also they tend to get uniformly lighter where you hold it or really dark, pic related show both extremes and for now I'm going for the top one kind of finish as I feel it looks more "field used". I think the bottom it's an rpk 74 but whatever as the wood/bakelite is the important thing here

I don't mind them as I'm planning to get sum dark souls recasts but it'll probably end in a shitstorm of ebin funposting or gunpla thread shenanigans so don't expect much.
There's an anon that works a lot with resin kits from industria mechanika so he might be able to help more in that regard too
